  • Fifteen local shoppers reported falling for fake designer goods over the past year — the Better Business Bureau warns that holiday shopping will give scammers more chances to deceive buyers. Residents are advised to verify product authenticity before making purchases.  Alaska's News Source

  • At the sustainable energy conference outside the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center, Governor Dunleavy discussed plans for an LNG pipeline that would start with 765 miles from the North Slope to Cook Inlet; the project may lower energy costs amid environmental and financial debate.  The Alaska Current
  • Due to unexpected freighter maintenance and severe weather, Alaska Air Cargo imposed an embargo on shipments from Dec. 16 until Dec. 21, delaying Christmas packages for rural communities — the embargo excludes GoldStreak shipments, and Northern Air Cargo has stepped up flights to fill the gap.  Alaska Public Media

  • Officials at the FNSB Assembly discussed returning Pioneer Park’s name to Alaskaland during a recent meeting, noting the park was renamed in 2001.  Alaska's News Source
  • DARPA launched its LIFT Challenge to spur drone designs that lift at least 110 pounds across a 5-nautical-mile course and offer $6.5 million in prizes (registration opens early 2026 with live trials in summer). HEALTH NEWS

  • A new Alaska Department of Health report found that COVID-19 caused 1 in 500 deaths between March 2020 and May 2023, and most of those who died were unvaccinated.
