- ➤ On June 20, 1980, fans at the Monkey Wharf bar watched the first Sugar Ray Leonard versus Roberto Duran fight on free Visions TV, marking a unique night of boxing and local culture. The bar, known for its monkey cage behind the counter, became a memorable Anchorage hotspot. Anchorage Daily News
- ➤ Anchorage’s Egan Center will host a strongly secured Hanukkah celebration on Friday amid global sorrow after a gun attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney that left 15 dead and 29 injured. Religious leaders plan to hold a moment of prayer for the victims during the event. Alaska's News Source

- ➤ Strong winds have battered Southcentral Alaska for a second weekend, leaving residual snow on the ground and heavy snow expected today as the strongest impacts move in tonight. Alaska's News Source
- ➤ In mid-November, a rare Harris’s Sparrow and Dickcissel were spotted in Sitka – the Dickcissel is only the third record in the state. The sightings have drawn birders from Anchorage, and some plan to join Sitka’s Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 20. KTOO
