- ➤ A UAA survey shows over 70% of Anchorage residents worry their roofs may fail under heavy snow, and 43% report financial and physical costs clearing snow. Associate Professor Jennifer Schmidt will present her findings in an online webinar on Dec. 10 as she works with engineers to develop safety models. Alaska's News Source
- ➤ After finding kittens outside the station on Dec. 4, an Anchorage firefighter took them to Best Friends Animal Rescue, which said the animals will be spayed, neutered and microchipped before they are available for adoption in a couple weeks. Alaska's News Source

- ➤ Anchorage's iconic Lucky Wishbone celebrates 70 years of service downtown after recently earning a James Beard Foundation America's Classics Award. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Alaska LNG project finalized a partially binding deal with South Korea’s POSCO on Dec. 1 & the agreement commits steel supply and investment. State officials attended the signing & marked another step toward construction. Alaska's News Source
- ➤ Alaska’s Department of Labor data showed a 14% swing in seasonal jobs, with tourism, seafood processing and construction driving changes. Rural areas like Bristol Bay Borough experienced increases (up to 667%), while Anchorage saw only a modest 6% fluctuation. KTOO
- ➤ Anchorage customers will see water bills rise by about 5% starting February 2026 as the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility cites higher costs from inflation, supply, energy, and labor expenses. The Assembly voted unanimously to approve the increase, and the proposal now heads to the Regulatory Commission for final review. Anchorage Daily News
