- ➤ Alaska Airlines said there will be no disruption to travel this holiday week despite a pipeline leak in Washington. The airline announced it is keeping a close watch on the issue and expects safe and on-time flights. Alaska's News Source
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Archaeologist Rick Knecht is raising funds to preserve artifacts at the Nunalleq site near Quinhagak after Former Typhoon Halong eroded 60 feet of shoreline. Donations from a GoFundMe and a $10,000 pledge have brought in about $14,000 so far—money needed to buy chemicals to save the relics before cold weather sets in. Alaska's News Source

- ➤ An Alaska Native corporation leased the Johnson Tract inside Lake Clark National Park to Contango Ore Inc, which plans to build a small gold mine in the future. Local fishermen and conservationists say plans for new roads and a port may harm local wildlife and fish habitats—fueling a sharp conflict between mining hopes and nature protection. - ➤ Anchorage has updated its wildfire protection plan for the first time since 2007 to guide residents and fire agencies in preparing for longer, drier summers that increase wildfire risks. A town hall was held on November 12th and the revised plan uses risk charts to prioritize neighborhoods like Potter Heights and Eagle River — a measure to better target mitigation efforts.
