  • On Oct. 31, 2025, faith groups in Anchorage helped evacuees from Typhoon Halong by providing clothing, food, mattresses, and personal care items to those moving into longer-term housing. Shiloh Baptist Church, National Baptist Convention, and World Vision organized interfaith services and coordinated relief efforts—ensuring timely support for displaced Western Alaska residents.  Anchorage Daily News

  • Local historian David Reamer examines postcards that capture both insults and compliments from visitors about Alaska—revealing simple remarks on weather, dogs, and historic events from the early 1900s to more recent eras. HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Jay Butler has been tapped as the new dean of UAA’s College of Health and will begin his role on Dec. 28.   • Former NFL stars Daunte Culpepper and Jim McMahon visited Anchorage last weekend and hosted meet-and-greets with watch parties for local football fans.
