  • Anchorage hosted its annual Trick or Treat in the Street on 4th Avenue where hundreds in costume roamed to collect candy — local businesses participated — and families enjoyed unique costumes and street dance breaks.   • Photographer David Jensen held a pet portrait fundraiser last Saturday at Alaska Mill & Feed, raising funds to help families displaced by Typhoon Halong reunite with their pets. He partnered with Alaska Rural Veterinary Outreach—an effort that provided donations for feeding fostered dogs, veterinary care and plans for a second fundraiser in coming months.  Alaska's News Source

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Alaska Department of Natural Resources approved Hilcorp Alaska’s plan on October 7 to upgrade the K Pad in the Beluga River Unit so it can add three wells to get more gas from the Cook Inlet field and power local utilities like Chugach Electric Association. The upgrades include installing well cellars and flowlines—measures aimed at keeping gas supplies strong for more than 90,000 rate payers as Hilcorp contracts end by 2028.  Must Read Alaska

SPORTS NEWS

  • Scores on Oct. 25 showed strong play in Alaska sports with updates from high school, college and NAHL contests. The Anchorage Wolverines beat Chippewa Steel 7-2 Friday and were set to meet them again in a later contest on Saturday—statewide games featured close wins and competitive matchups.  Anchorage Daily News
  • South Anchorage won the Division I state championship on Friday, Oct. 24 in Palmer by beating Bartlett 37-3—scoring early with a special teams touchdown and pulling away in the second half.
