- ➤ Anchorage and surrounding areas will host a range of Halloween and fall events—such as zoo festivities, trick or treating, haunted walks and indoor parties from Oct 24 through early November—that offer fun for both families and adults. - ➤ More than 16,000 donors contributed over $2M to the Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund during the AFN Convention at the Dena'ina Center after Typhoon Halong displaced hundreds, and less than $200,000 has been allocated so far; an advisory group will meet soon to decide on grants while local groups now request monetary help instead of in-kind donations — a shift to support rebuilding and stabilization efforts.
