CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police identified the victim—63-year-old Arthur Stepetin Jr.—as having been fatally hit in a hit-and-run on Aug. 29 and he later died at an Anchorage hospital. Alaska's News Source
- ➤ A Palmer judge barred Clint Miller—owner of Alaska Wilderness Outfitter—from taking new clients after a state lawsuit claimed he canceled moose hunts and kept over $600,000 without issuing refunds from 2019 to 2024, leaving most of the 37 clients without proper guidance. Anchorage Daily News
- ➤ Alaska State Troopers seized about $970,000 in narcotics from a Sand Point fishing vessel Monday and shot the boat’s captain after he pulled a hatchet during a search warrant service— the vessel contained roughly 600 grams of methamphetamine and 35 grams of heroin. Alaska's News Source

- ➤ Data for Indigenous Justice’s public records request for names of homicide victims was rejected by the Department of Public Safety— which said compiling the records would require several hours of manual review. The nonprofit said the denial hinders efforts to track the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people. Alaska Public Media
- ➤ Gov. Dunleavy declared disaster for parts of the Yukon-Koyukuk region as Allakaket, Hughes and Alatna face severe flooding from multiple storms.
