The Anchorage Fire Department responded to a plane crash at Merrill Field around 10:00 p.m. Friday and found everyone safely evacuated while the plane lay on its belly— a previous owner who sold the plane that day later confirmed the prop was severely bent.

Anchorage police said one pedestrian died in a hit and run near Northern Lights and Boniface around 8 p.m. Friday — a black SUV struck the victim and fled and investigators sought anyone with surveillance footage.
