  • Anchorage Pride drew record attendance on June 28 as thousands of local residents gathered to celebrate diversity and unity at the annual event—organizers reported that the turnout set new participation records.  Alaska's News Source

  • The Alaska Aviation Museum will hold its yearly Fly Over Festival featuring aviation displays and events for local visitors — a longstanding tradition celebrating the region's aviation heritage. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At 95, bailiff Gordon Severson worked at the Nesbett Courthouse on June 23 to escort a 12-person jury and manage court tasks while continuing a decades-long public service that began during Truman’s presidency—he remains a valued part of Anchorage’s justice system.  Anchorage Daily News
  • Operation Colony Glacier continued its recovery work on June 12 as military teams worked to recover remains and personal effects from the 1952 U.S. Air Force C-124 Globemaster II crash on Mount Gannett. By today, 49 of the 52 victims have been identified — teams from Alaskan Command, the National Guard, Army, and Air Force keep up their summer efforts to prevent debris from moving downstream.  Must Read Alaska
  • The updated 940‐page bill was released on Friday and will be debated in the Senate soon — it has Alaska changes like a tax break for fishers, more Medicaid support, and proposed cuts to Medicaid and food aid that could cost 3,000 jobs. Local health experts and advocates in Anchorage warned the cuts will hurt care and the economy while senators Murkowski and Sullivan weigh options — and Governor Dunleavy pointed to future benefits from oil and gas rules.  Alaska Beacon

  • On Saturday, 22 mushers registered at the Iditarod headquarters in Wasilla near the Joe Redington Sr. statue for the 2026 Iditarod by signing up online+in-person.
