ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Diving teams recovered human remains linked to the fourth Maynard family member during a two-day search in Kachemak Bay after their boat capsized last summer near Homer — the remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner for autopsy. Alaska's News Source
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Scientists with the Alaska Volcano Observatory report that Mount Spurr west of Anchorage appears calmer today after a winter of elevated unrest that led to eruption alerts in March — although low-level seismic activity still prompts consistent monitoring. - ➤ Anchorage Assembly repealed the rule that required bars, restaurants and breweries to check IDs when selling alcohol, effective immediately. Operators said the rule angered patrons, hurt sales and damaged the city’s image—liquor stores must still follow the mandate. Anchorage Daily News

- ➤ Governor Dunleavy said the state will be reimbursed for housing 40 detainees as protests took place outside the Anchorage Correctional Complex, where about 25 people marched and chanted against the detentions—some urging that families be reunited.
