- ➤ Anchorage launched its new Summer Night Market at Town Square Park Friday—featuring live music, local vendors, and food trucks. The free event will run every Friday night through summer. Your Alaska Link
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ U.S. Antimony Corp, a Texas firm, bought 50 square miles of Interior Alaska mining claims and will test for antimony this summer. The company will truck ore 2,000 miles to its Montana smelter—hoping to reduce reliance on Chinese imports. KBRW
- ➤ Wasilla-based Stax Capital Partners is proposing a Bitcoin mining operation near the North Slope oil fields that will use 50 megawatts of power from unused natural gas — roughly equal to the output of Alaska’s largest coal plant. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Anchorage Police arrested 27-year-old Matthew Alexie on Monday on charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence after a fatal stabbing in Spenard left 25-year-old Michael Kaskey dead at the scene—Alexie had previous convictions for assault and unlawfully contacting a witness. - ➤ An Anchorage jury convicted former nurse practitioner Kris Rhodes Kile on 12 felony counts for illegally prescribing opioids to patients without a justifiable need — her sentencing is set for Oct. 9 after her nursing licenses were revoked. Anchorage Daily News

- ➤ Chugach State Park’s Prospect Heights Trailhead in Anchorage got major upgrades with expanded parking, drainage fixes and new signage from work that began last fall.
