ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Anchorage police said that a sedan overturned on Seward Highway between Bird Point and Girdwood early Saturday at 3:53 a.m., killing one man while injuring the driver after multiple calls reported the crash — the car came to rest on the Alaska Railroad tracks near Mile 92.5 — and the investigation is ongoing. - ➤ US GoldMining updated its exploration activities at the 53,700-acre Whistler Gold-Copper Project, 105 miles west of Anchorage in the West Susitna Mineral District, after announcing encouraging drilling results on Feb. 10 and identifying over 25 targets. The company will prioritize targets for summer drilling as it moves toward an economic assessment that was announced on April 15. Must Read Alaska

- ➤ A woman was seriously injured when a vehicle hit her (around 3:04 a.m. Saturday) near Seward Highway between East 36th Avenue and Benson in Midtown, and police said the vehicle fled the scene while the northbound lanes were closed as they investigated the life-threatening injuries she sustained. - ➤ Anchorage’s Westchester Lagoon was created in 1973 when city officials transformed Chester Creek mudflats into a community gathering spot with roots in Native fishing, bootlegging, and early ski jumps. In 1976, a local radio host searched the lagoon for the Loch Ness Monster (Mark ‘Marcus In The Morning’ Lewis), adding a quirky chapter to its history. Anchorage Daily News

- ➤ Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and EPA administrator Lee Zeldin are visiting the North Slope on Monday to review key energy sites and to join Governor Mike Dunleavy’s sustainable energy conference in Anchorage.
