ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Alaska State Troopers and the Coast Guard are searching for a missing man after a small 10-foot Ocean Pro boat sank off Mekoryuk on Monday, rescuing two of the three men aboard (one swam to shore and another was safely rescued) amid rough waters.  Your Alaska Link

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Glenfarne Group has chosen Worley to refine the pipeline's engineering scope and deliver the final cost estimate for its Alaska LNG project, a key step before a final investment decision later this year—Worley will also advise on the LNG import terminal. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Anchorage Downtown Partnership will host the Live After Five Concert Series at Town Square Park starting May 29 with weekly events offering live music, food trucks, and a beer garden until July 24 — a finale is scheduled for July 30 during the West End Block Party.  Your Alaska Link

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Michele Yatchmeneff, a longtime ANSEP alum, became COO on May 13 and is now working to expand the program after a $2.5 million NSF grant ended—forcing the cancellation of the summer Acceleration Academy. University officials said language changes are aimed at protecting federal funding as Yatchmeneff hopes to restore the program next year.  Anchorage Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Anchorage is experiencing unusually high tree pollen levels this spring—especially from birch and alder—which have led to a marked increase in patients seeking allergy treatment. A local allergy center measured pollen at 1,000 grains per cubic meter and advised residents to keep windows shut and consult their doctors for help managing symptoms.  Alaska's News Source
