  • A new review of 'Ïyaġaaġmiut: People Who Live Among the Rock Caches' by Ch’igiioonta’ She Holds a Child shows how oral traditions (with written records and science) reveal 18th and 19th century Indigenous life along Alaska’s Brooks Range.  Anchorage Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Colton Penetac, a bowler and class president at Bettye Davis East, graduated on May 14 (a milestone) and will attend Belmont Abbey College where he plans to compete in bowling while studying math and sports management. He will host a summer clinic to encourage youth to take up the sport.  Anchorage Daily News
  • Officials from AWCC and Matson opened the new Matson Ocean Education Center on Saturday at The Point where the Placer and Portage Rivers meet the sea, and the center now offers daily marine preservation programs with a special focus on Cook Inlet beluga whales.  Alaska's News Source
