- ➤ More than 3,000 Anchorage residents living in tents, RVs, and shelters are waiting for housing because there are not enough accessible homes available. The Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness said its program helps move people off the streets, but tight rental rules and slow construction mean many must wait an uncertain time—officials are unable to predict when more housing will open up. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 24-year-old man — Daemon Sterlin Carlton As’Kim Hill — was arrested off DeBarr Road at 5:15 p.m. and indicted on one count of first-degree and two counts of second-degree murder for the 2021 killing of 18-year-old Katelynn Shelhamer, whose body was found early on June 8th at Nunaka Valley baseball fields, with his arraignment set for today at the Anchorage Jail Courtroom. - ➤ Anchorage police are investigating the homicides of two men aged 37 and 41 and a 23-year-old woman found dead on April 23 in an apartment on the 3500 block of East 42nd Avenue—officials have withheld further details to protect the investigation. Anchorage Daily News
- ➤ On Tuesday, Sarah Jane Dayan was sentenced to 68 years for murdering her court-appointed supervisor, Keith Huss, and for related crimes in Anchorage and Seward — the sentence followed a seven-week trial. Alaska's News Source
