- ➤ At the Alaska Airlines Center on May 4, over 500 students crossed the stage out of more than 950 graduates during the UAA spring commencement, with family and friends in attendance. U.S. Sen. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At its Tuesday meeting beginning at 5 p.m. at Loussac Library Assembly Chambers, the Anchorage Assembly will approve more than $1.4 million in funding for homeless shelter services—including support for Catholic Social Services, professional oversight by Restorative & Reentry Services, property acquisition by Habitat for Humanity Anchorage, and non-congregate services by MASH Property Management LLC—to continue expanding the city's shelter capacity. - ➤ The House Bill 209 by Rep. Zack Fields would set this year’s Permanent Fund dividend at $1,000 and stop the payout for anyone earning over $50,000—over $100,000 for married couples, while the Senate may cut the dividend as part of a budget proposal trimming about $265 million.
