- ➤ Fire Departments across the country, including Anchorage, honored fallen firefighters over the weekend by ringing bells at the Alaska Fallen Firefighter memorial downtown. Fire Chief Doug Schrage said the ceremony recognized the 33 firefighters who died on duty for their sacrifice. Alaska's News Source

- ➤ On April 25, the Alaska House passed a bill exempting commercial fishers’ cooperative insurance pools from state insurance rules to help fishers avoid high premiums. The measure—covering pools that already serve about 840 vessels under Washington law—and now heads to the Senate. Alaska Beacon
