  • An Alaska-based maritime recycling firm, Net Your Problem, shipped 29,000 pounds (including trawl, gill and seine nets plus crab line) from Newport, Ore. to Ukraine where the nets are used to entangle drones; Ground Squirrel Ventures plans to send additional containers over the next three months.  Alaska Beacon
  • A University of Alaska Fairbanks study finds that invasive pike in the Deshka River eat more fish as water temperatures rise — local experts worry this could further decline salmon numbers vital to fisheries.   • Anchorage Assembly passed a law banning the feeding of wild animals, imposing a $250 fine for the first offense — enforcement will be complaint-based and residents are urged to use the hotline to report incidents.  Anchorage Daily News
  • FAA officials plan to install over 160 new weather stations and 64 weather cameras in Alaska to improve aviation safety. Industry experts expect some to come online this summer or fall while exact locations remain undisclosed, and Grant Aviation urged clearer project sites to help companies prepare.  Alaska Public Media
