HEALTH NEWS

  • A new study by UAA looked at over 218,000 births from 2000 to 2020 and found that mothers in northern and western Alaska who travel far for care often have babies born too soon or too small, with factors like tobacco use and chronic illnesses adding to the risk. The study suggests that better access to care such as telehealth may help reduce these challenges for rural communities.  Alaska Beacon
