  • Last week, ExxonMobil, Shell, and others spent $163 million acquiring over 1 million acres in the National Petroleum Reserve (Alaska), renewing interest in North Slope oil development. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State seismologist Michael West said federal funds provided $2M to help start an earthquake early warning system, called ShakeAlert, that will alert residents in high-risk areas near Southcentral, Kodiak, Fairbanks, and Prince William Sound.   • Anchorage Wolverines clinched their playoff spot on Saturday at Sullivan Arena with a 3-1 win over Wisconsin Windigo, where starting goalie Kai Weigel made 17 saves amid a strong team effort.
