- ➤ Anchorage motivational speaker Donteh Mone Devoe was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison on state charges and a concurrent 16-year federal sentence after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a 16-year-old in his care — his release is now scheduled for 2041. Anchorage Daily News
- ➤ Former Rep. Gabrielle LeDoux’s election fraud retrial was delayed again after her legal team secured an extension on March 24 from Judge Kevin Saxby—she faces 12 charges including five felonies for allegedly urging nonresidents to vote in 2014 and 2018 and her trial has been repeatedly postponed since charges were filed in 2020. - ➤ The Alaska House of Representatives passed House Bill 36 on March 26th, which requires foster youth in psychiatric hospitals to have a court hearing within seven days—aiming to end hospital stays that can add extra stress—and the bill now moves to the Senate. Alaska Public Media
- ➤ The Permanent Fund dividend filing season ends on March 31; online applications will be available until 11:59 p.m. and office lobbies will accept paper submissions on Seward’s Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 555,380 residents have applied so far in hopes of receiving dividend payments expected to start around October 3 — the final amount may be reduced by legislative decisions. - ➤ The AGDC board met on Thursday and voted to allow President Frank Richards to sign a development agreement with Glenfarne to advance Alaska LNG, a project that will build a pipeline, LNG terminal, & carbon capture plant to deliver North Slope gas to locals and export up to 20 million tons per year. Governor Mike Dunleavy said he secured a letter of intent from Taiwan and that phase one will soon begin with pipeline design work and a final investment decision expected in the fourth quarter.
