CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Alaska's Missing Murdered Indigenous Women Girls and Two-Spirit working group held a vigil on Friday at Hostetler Park to honor 14-year-old Emily Pike, a San Carlos Apache teen found dead last month in Arizona, and to raise awareness of violence affecting Indigenous communities statewide. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Federal judge Sharon Gleason ruled Tuesday that NMFS acted correctly in managing trawl fisheries amid a salmon shortage—tribal groups challenging the rules did not prove the decisions were arbitrary. Plaintiffs may appeal the ruling as they push for stricter management to protect local salmon stocks. Alaska Beacon
- ➤ Anchorage voters will decide on several measures on April 1 to boost park maintenance, road safety and trail access — including proposals for an $8.2 million park bond, a $33.7 million roads and drainage bond, and funding for snow clearing, trailhead parking and public safety.
