CRIME NEWS

  • Alaska's Missing Murdered Indigenous Women Girls and Two-Spirit working group held a vigil on Friday at Hostetler Park to honor 14-year-old Emily Pike, a San Carlos Apache teen found dead last month in Arizona, and to raise awareness of violence affecting Indigenous communities statewide.  Alaska's News Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal judge Sharon Gleason ruled Tuesday that NMFS acted correctly in managing trawl fisheries amid a salmon shortage—tribal groups challenging the rules did not prove the decisions were arbitrary. Plaintiffs may appeal the ruling as they push for stricter management to protect local salmon stocks.  Alaska Beacon
  • Anchorage voters will decide on several measures on April 1 to boost park maintenance, road safety and trail access — including proposals for an $8.2 million park bond, a $33.7 million roads and drainage bond, and funding for snow clearing, trailhead parking and public safety.   • Paige Drobny from Cantwell finished third in her 10th Iditarod race—her best finish to date—as she completed the race in 10 days, 20 hours, 38 minutes, and 43 seconds after improving on last year’s 5th place result.  Your Alaska Link
  • Musher Matt Hall from Eagle finished second in the 2025 Iditarod when he arrived on Front Street in Nome and was greeted by his wife Elke, family, friends, and fans—he completed the race in 10 days, 17 hours, 59 minutes, and 46 seconds.  Your Alaska Link
