- ➤ Grant Akaran, 31, from Pilot Station was rescued on Feb. 16 at around 12:30 p.m. by the Alaska Army National Guard after he went missing with minor injuries in deep snow near St. Mary’s; he had left on Feb. 14 while hunting for moose sheds along the Chuilnak River. Your Alaska Link

- ➤ Anchorage School District is proposing to close three schools; O'Malley Elementary and Government Hill Elementary will become alternative language immersion schools (French and Spanish) as part of the plan, with changes still under review. Alaska's News Source

- ➤ Fairbanks musher Josi Shelley won her first Yukon Quest Alaska by finishing at 8:11 p.m. Monday in a 750-mile race completed in 9 days, 9 hours and 11 minutes. Her win followed a second-place finish last year along the challenging route in Golden Heart City. Alaska's News Source
- ➤ The South Anchorage Wolverines capped an unbeaten season by winning a 1-0 state championship when Oliver Zuber scored the game-winning goal and Jaeger Huelskoetter saved 22 shots to shut out the West Valley Wolfpack.
