- ➤ UAA students faced record snowfall on Tuesday as the University stayed open until 2 p.m. to help them attend class — they braved tough winter conditions to get to lessons. Alaska's News Source
- ➤ On Jan. 27, the state board approved UAA’s school psychology master’s program to ease the shortage of school psychologists. The new program — subject to NASP accreditation — will help future graduates earn licenses to serve students. KBRW

- ➤ A Seattle-based Fishing Vessel Owners’ Association asked the IPHC to lower the recreational halibut limit to one fish due to a declining resource, but the decision was deferred to the North Pacific Management Council on Jan. 27.
