- ➤ Local historian David Reamer details that during the 1940s, U.S. officials considered trading oil-rich parts of Alaska’s North Slope for Greenland, but the proposal was dropped after facing strong political opposition (residents were not consulted). Anchorage Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Authorities confirmed evidence of a diesel spill after Doyon 26 tipped over Friday near a tributary to the Nechelik Channel (the rig had 4,000 gallons onboard) and responders reported no ongoing leaks or wildlife impacts while eight people were treated for minor injuries. Alaska's News Source
