- ➤ The University of Alaska Anchorage Archives now displays a fountain pen President Eisenhower used on Jan. 3, 1959 to sign Alaska’s statehood proclamation, marking 67 years since Alaska joined the union and preserving a cherished piece of local history. Anchorage Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Anchorage experienced bitter cold conditions yesterday as plummeting temperatures and icy winds affected commuters (local officials urged residents to dress warmly). Residents were advised to use caution on slippery roads. Alaska's News Source

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities plans a $40M redesign of the Seward Highway and Tudor Road interchange to replace an aging bridge and improve safety.
